Scholastic Aptitude Test gives one the opportunity for undergraduate programs in the US. A good score in the SAT attracts scholarships of all kinds to the test takers.
The SAT (with essay option) contains 5 sections:
- An Essay part
- One Reading Section
- One Writing Skill Section
- One Math Section(without calculator)
- One Math Section(with calculator)
The SAT (without essay option) contains 4 sections: excluding the Essay component.
Typical SAT Test
Total testing time is approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes, including the Essay section.

The Scores for the SAT Test include:
* SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing Section score (200–800)
*The Two Math Section scores (200-800)
*Adding your Evidence-Based Reading and Writing Section score to your Math Section score. The result is your total score on the SAT Test, on a scale of 400–1600
*Scores are released approximately 15days
Sending Scores
If you take the SAT with Essay, your essay scores will always be reported along with your other scores from that test day. Even though Score Choice allows you to choose which day’s scores you send to colleges, you can never send only some scores from a certain test day. For instance, you can’t choose to send Math scores but not SAT Essay scores.
Reminder: Check the Score Choice policies of every college you’re applying to, because some schools require you to send scores from every time you’ve taken the SAT. If this sounds intimidating, keep in mind that many colleges consider your best.
No Penalty for Guessing
On the new SAT, you simply earn points for the questions you answer correctly. So go ahead and give your best answer to every question—there’s no advantage to leaving them blank.
